Though native-speaking French people will contest this, to the dull British ear, the difference in French pronunciation of "Saint Clair" and "Sinclair" would likely not be discernible, thus the variation in spellings.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-63487384210351600342015-03-15T20:56:10.013-07:002015-03-15T20:56:10.013-07:00Oh yes we had California weather yesterday and tod...Oh yes we had California weather yesterday and today in the 70's it was heavenly:) Far Side of Fiftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995757632158408442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-85987309889876721712015-03-15T20:55:27.305-07:002015-03-15T20:55:27.305-07:00You are making progress one step at a time:)You are making progress one step at a time:)Far Side of Fiftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995757632158408442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-8464081849892202662015-03-15T05:23:09.010-07:002015-03-15T05:23:09.010-07:00The St. Clair / Sinclair revelation is brilliant. ...The St. Clair / Sinclair revelation is brilliant. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself as I have people in my database named St. Clair / Sinclair. In documents, the name is spelled both ways. In transcribed records one of the spellings is often in parentheses. Must be a Virginia thing.Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17863357756727783017noreply@blogger.com
