My relatives were further west in Gilmer (named for George Rockingham Gilmer, a Governor of Georgia) and Fannin (named for county is named for Georgia native James W. Fannin, who fought and died during the Texas Revolution) County.<br /><br />So my relatives moved from this Fannin County, Georgia to Fannin County, Texas in the 1880s.
