I couldn't, however, do this without the assistance of curators at places like the Library of Congress and even Wikipedia.

Some people are talented enough to illustrate their blog posts with their own photography. I don't have that talent, so I'm glad those art resources are so readily available--once again, thanks to that relentless onward push of digitization.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-37209946482016469252015-03-10T09:50:09.339-07:002015-03-10T09:50:09.339-07:00If you ever tire of genealogy - there are more tha...If you ever tire of genealogy - there are more than a few Art Museums that could use your wonderful taste in art...Intense Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08441598926026727682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-66710293993832146752015-02-22T23:14:17.843-08:002015-02-22T23:14:17.843-08:00Yes. Yes, it was exciting for him, but of course, the possibilities also usher in all sorts of doubts as well. It may well turn out to be a remote connection. We don't show up on each other's autosomal DNA test results, so the connection goes back beyond the level of sixth cousin, at the least.

No matter what happens, yes, you are right: it has been a thrilling challenge for Joel--and his persistence has won out. Between a steep learning curve and a lot of hard work, he's become quite a resource for others with the same hopes.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-83218747287542264562015-02-22T20:49:43.201-08:002015-02-22T20:49:43.201-08:00The hunt continues...no doubt he is working on it ...The hunt continues...no doubt he is working on it too! :)Far Side of Fiftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995757632158408442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-16484527985336104752015-02-22T16:33:17.379-08:002015-02-22T16:33:17.379-08:00I bet it was a rush for him!, adoption is hard to ...I bet it was a rush for him!, adoption is hard to get past I like the metaphors too.Elliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03597553254090967849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-50259146364674232172015-02-22T04:09:39.721-08:002015-02-22T04:09:39.721-08:00It's going to be fun watching you make the con...It's going to be fun watching you make the connection. Frankly it already sounds so remote that I'm quite sure I would be throwing in the towel about now. As one growing up hearing stories of my grandparents' grandparents and at least hearing NAMES, I can only imagine how thrilling this venture must be for Joel to be hearing his names for the first time.
