Now, as we move into a different phase of our trip, we are caught up in the going and collecting the sights of those ancestral places. A real experience! I found myself full of energy--just the excitement of being here, plus, I suppose, an overdose of caffeine--but at the same time, totally in a stupor as people were giving me directions or asking questions. I found myself asking, "Could you repeat that" a number of times. Concepts just were not registering in my boggled mind.

The fog, thankfully, is lifting.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-18910698355462738112014-10-03T08:40:13.063-07:002014-10-03T08:40:13.063-07:00Thanks for getting in touch, Trish. I don't wo...Thanks for getting in touch, Trish. I don't worry too much about the spelling of Flanagan, as apparently, back in those days, spelling wasn't as much of a concern as it is now. Very likely they were of the same family--though of course, I'd like to see what documentation might be available. If you are talking about the Flanagan family from the Catholic parish of Ballyagran in County Limerick (near the border with County Cork), then I've seen the listing for your James Flanigan in the 1901 census and wondered, myself. We'll have to compare notes and see.

On our way up to Ballina on Thursday evening, we did see the countryside near Ballyagran. We hope to stop by on our way back to Cork this weekend and explore. If you find anything else from your relatives, I'd love to hear. You can always email me directly at my address, which is the name of this blog ("afamilytapestry") + gmail dot com. I'd love to discuss this with you further!Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-83694499857604195852014-10-02T15:48:22.316-07:002014-10-02T15:48:22.316-07:00Oh no! My name is Trish Taylor (nee Patricia Flanagan) and I am the granddaughter of James Flanigan (census 1901) and daughter of James Flanigan (census 1911). Even our surnames differ. I don't know alot of our family history but I do know for certain my father telling me his family went to Boston. Maybe this is the Anna or maybe (Johanna) Flanigan who went looking for Stephen Malloy. I don't know who or when though. I have put out the word and hopefully I can find out more info from my older relatives. The house in cappananty that stands now is the 'new Flanagan house' the cow shed if still standing was the original Flanagan house. My dad's brother Den (pronounced Din) used to farm his cows there. His wife biddy remarried after he died and lived there until her passing about 8 years ago. Not sure who owns or lives there now.Patricia Flanaganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01161690844951992823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-67754566927908637102014-10-01T14:54:59.225-07:002014-10-01T14:54:59.225-07:00Thanks, Colleen.
