But I truly appreciate the work of the genealogical trailblazers who have marked the path for my surnames. Hopefully, I'll blaze some trails, myself, that others will find helpful. I guess it's the mindset that I feel trapped under--as if each one of us is required to re-invent the genealogical wheel with our own research. I'm not above looking around to see what others have found, though. Proceed with caution, yes, but I can't see putting blinders on, as if it were some virtuous quality. It's just an internal straw man I'm struggling with, Iggy--but I find it curious that all this internal baggage has been riding around in the back of my mind for so long, but has somehow escaped the inevitable jostling that comes with bumpy travels.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-91206694335826725362015-02-13T22:02:57.253-08:002015-02-13T22:02:57.253-08:00Wendy, thanks so much for saying that! But you and I know human nature: if we can make mistakes now, they sure could back then, too. I'd rather get it right than get it from only the old resources.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5034998384799920884.post-85209391085081015272015-02-13T16:55:27.159-08:002015-02-13T16:55:27.159-08:00I hope you feel better soon!

But the Holy Grail that everyone points to - the one published eons before the days of "easy access" - is fraught with error.

Feel better soon!
