The frock coat with...Very distinquished gentleman. The frock coat with shoulder boards looks like a Civil War officer's to me. It may have been a "GAR" uniform or Spanish American War veterans vintage.<br /><br />Its hard to see the "rank insignia" on the shoulder boards - two oak leaves and an eagle?<br /><br />I think an Eagle was a Major, and the Oak Leaves were a Colonel.
